The project
S.A.BA.R. previously used high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps to support the growth and health of basil, combating common diseases in this crop. However, the system faced significant limitations: an instantaneous energy consumption of 32 kW for a 750-square-meter greenhouse and high management costs.
The challenge was clear: reduce total energy consumption, cut operational costs, and simultaneously improve basil productivity. Our LED solutions proved to be the ideal choice to achieve these goals.
Installation description
We replaced the old HPS lamps with our LED fixtures, powered by OSRAM LED technology. Designed to emit light within the photosynthetically active spectrum, our lamps ensure efficient and balanced illumination, optimizing plant growth.
The new setup reduced instantaneous energy consumption by 56%, from 32 kW to 14 kW, without compromising crop quality or yield. Additionally, lighting cycles were optimized to support plants at every growth stage, resulting in greater uniformity and productivity.
