Terme Olimia, Slovenia’s top wellness center, underwent an architectural transformation to enhance its relaxing ambiance. One of the key innovations was a stunning vertical indoor garden designed to bring nature into elegant interior spaces. This vertical wall garden integrates living plants into the architecture, promoting a calming and health-focused environment. In this case study, we explore how our custom LED lighting played a crucial role in supporting plants growth and improving indoor plants care in low-light conditions. By combining LED efficiency and design, our solution helped create a harmonious balance between wellness, greenery, and technology—demonstrating how lighting can support both function and aesthetic in modern wellness spaces.

The project

Developed by HUMKO, experts in vertical garden systems and horticultural design, the Terme Olimia project covers 85 m² and extends 24 meters in length. The challenge was clear: ensure the survival of over 100 vertical garden plants in a space with indoor plant low light and no natural illumination. The goal was to combine plants light performance with architectural elegance. Our LED grow lamps were chosen to deliver the required spectrum and light intensity while respecting the aesthetics of the wellness center. The result is a sophisticated vertical garden that thrives under artificial lighting, with a lush appearance that requires minimal maintenance—showcasing the synergy between LED lighting for growing plants and biophilic design.

Installation description

For this unique vertical garden, we supplied 22 AE24 WH LED lighting lamps equipped with adjustable color temperatures from 2700K to 6500K. These deliver a LED light spectrum that simulates natural white light while blending with the warm tones of the interior. Lit by artificial light, the garden entirely depends on our solution for plant health and vitality.
The LED grow lamps provide the right combination of intensity and spectrum to support the physiological needs of decorative species in a vertical indoor garden. With these fixtures, Terme Olimia was able to create a green environment that supports long-term plants growth, even without access to daylight—a common challenge in enclosed architectural settings.

The lighting system for Terme Olimia’s vertical wall garden was built using the AE24 model, now replaced by our updated Sirio version. This custom LED lighting fixture is ideal for decorative applications in dark, high-humidity interiors. Sirio emits a balanced, calibrated spectrum, making it the perfect solution for indoor plant low light environments. With its sleek design and LED efficiency, Sirio allows greenery to flourish while seamlessly integrating into luxury architectural projects. By ensuring even light distribution across the entire vertical garden system, this lamp supports consistent plant health and a visually striking result—blending botanical beauty with functional lighting in high-end wellness and hospitality environments.
