In collaboration with Mat 2.0, a Parma-based company specializing in photobioreactors and ready-to-use systems for algae growth, we launched an innovative project using our AE100 LED lamps. This partnership demonstrates how Ambralight technology contributes to greater LED efficiency, enhanced cultivation performance, and sustainable growth in controlled environments. The project focused on improving conditions for growing algae in closed-loop systems, where high-quality algae light and precise lighting control are essential. By combining our expertise with Mat 2.0’s experience in algae farms, the result was a system capable of supporting robust algae growth, while maximizing the benefits of LED lighting across a research and production context.
The project
Mat 2.0 selected our AE100 dimmable LED lighting to upgrade their algae bioreactor systems, replacing outdated metal halide lamps. The goal was to create a modern, energy-efficient lighting solution with better light distribution and improved biomass yield. AE100 delivers a tailored LED lighting spectrum designed for optimal plants growth and lighting for indoor plants, which plays a critical role in algae cultivation. Beyond efficiency, our solution offers lower environmental impact and precise photobiological control—crucial factors in both plants research and commercial-scale growing algae operations. This case confirms how growing lights engineered for high efficiency can transform energy-intensive systems into sustainable and scalable setups.
Installation description
We provided Mat 2.0 with our AE100 algae lamps, engineered to emit light within the photosynthetically active spectrum, essential for consistent algae growth and high-yield plants light applications. These lamps perform exceptionally well in high-stress environments like algae bioreactors, where stable operation and resilience to humidity are key. With uniform algae light distribution, the AE100 helps reduce stress on the algae culture and supports more consistent development across systems. This makes it an ideal choice not only for algae-focused setups but also for plants research, where repeatability and spectral precision are fundamental. The solution is also suitable for lighting for indoor plants in demanding lab or production conditions.

Benefits achieved
By integrating AE100 LED grow lamps into their photobioreactors, Mat 2.0 achieved remarkable outcomes:
- Uniform light distribution: even algae growth across each reactor.
- 50% energy savings: reduced consumption compared to metal halide alternatives.
- Lower heat emission: better temperature control within the growing environment.
- Durability: consistent performance in fluctuating, high-humidity conditions.
This case confirms the benefits of LED lighting in complex biotechnological systems. The solution combines long-term energy efficiency with high light precision, essential for productive algae farms and advanced study of plants. AE100 proves to be a reliable, cost-effective, and scientifically aligned option for companies seeking innovation in algae cultivation through high-performance growing lights.
