Modagri is a leader in the cultivation of ornamental garden plants, with over 40 years of expertise in ornamental horticulture. Located near Thessaloniki, in northern Greece, the company benefits from a mild climate and the vision of founder Aristeides Triantafyllou. Modagri exports high-quality decorative plants to Greece, Cyprus, and the Western Balkans, focusing on sustainability and consistency. In this case study, we’ll explore how our AE32 LED growing lights, featuring optimized LED light spectrum and LED efficiency, improved plants growth and rooting. By integrating our artificial light for plants, Modagri streamlined its production process, boosting yield and ensuring better quality across a wide range of plant species.

The project

Modagri cultivates more than 30 young plant species on greenhouse benches. To improve transplant readiness, they needed to enhance rooting and early plants growth before outdoor planting. This approach increases uniformity and reduces shock in the open field. As Katerina Triantafyllou, operations manager, explains:
We were looking for LED lights with a specific spectrum for this task. Ambralight proved to be the right company, combining deep technical knowledge with the flexibility to adapt the lamps to our needs.
This highlights the importance of adaptable artificial light for plants, and how collaboration enabled precise lighting tailored to species-specific growth requirements in the ornamental sector.

Installation description

To meet Modagri’s needs, we supplied AE32 LED grow lamps equipped with Osram LEDs and a finely calibrated LED light spectrum. The lamps provide two targeted red wavelengths to stimulate early root development and blue light to strengthen vegetative growth. This precise lighting combination prepares plants for field transplanting with improved resilience. Used in the early morning and evening, the growing lights complement natural sunlight, ensuring 15 hours of continuous plants light daily. This consistent exposure reduces transplant stress and promotes healthy, vigorous seedlings.
The AE32’s targeted spectrum is a key factor in achieving ideal greenhouse conditions for ornamental plant production while maintaining high LED efficiency and quality.

Installed product

Aquila

In Modagri’s greenhouses, the AE32 model—now equivalent to our AQUILA lamp—was used to deliver optimized light for ornamental horticulture. This professional LED fixture is designed to support intensive production of diverse ornamental garden plants, ensuring stable, uniform plants growth across more than 30 cultivated species. With low maintenance and long operational life, AQUILA provides reliable artificial light for plants under varying greenhouse conditions. Its high LED efficiency and calibrated output make it ideal for growers looking to streamline crop cycles without compromising on quality. For Modagri, this meant more predictable results and reduced workload across large-scale propagation setups.

Benefits achieved

Thanks to our AE32 lamps, Modagri achieved remarkable results:

  • Accelerated rooting: plants develop strong roots up to 10 days earlier.
  • Higher transplant success: healthier root systems mean better survival outdoors.
  • Uniform growth: stable plants light creates ideal conditions for all species.
  • Lighting efficiency: optimized LED light spectrum matches each growth stage.

These results demonstrate how our AE32 LED fixtures have revolutionized the management of ornamental horticolture, improving productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
